Scorching Scotland puts Euro hotspots in shade

SCOTLAND soared to its hottest day of the year... on the final day of a sensationally sunny April

Blue skies and searing heat saw people flock to parks and lochs as we put Mediterranean hotspots in the shade.

Ibiza managed just 21C (70F) and the Greek capital, Athens, was several degrees cooler at 19C (66F).

The highest temperatures in Scotland yesterday were at Aboyne in Aberdeenshire, which hit 24.4C (75F), followed by 23.6C (74F) in Edinburgh and 23.5C (73F) in Aviemore in the Highlands and in Leuchars in Fife.

The Met Office said last month will go down as one of the sunniest Aprils since records began.
