DEPUTY LEADER OF THE SCOTTISH CONSERVATIVES
-
T'S staggering to think how fast and how far the Labour government has unravelled. Since achieving a huge majority not much over a year ago, it's been one disaster after another.
They've betrayed the nation's trust in record time with a catalogue of broken promises.
They cruelly axed the winter fuel payment and then U-turned-making a nonsense of their claim that it had been economically necessary. They imposed the hated family farm tax and, after promising no increases in tax, brought in a national insurance hike that has stopped growth and endangered jobs.
Inflation is soaring. So is borrowing. So are the scandals, resignations and rumblings of mutiny.
We can now be certain that what's coming in November's budget are more eye-watering tax rises - but no plans for jobs or growth.
Nor any attempt to rein in wasteful public spending or abuses of the welfare system.
