Mato reveals how Ugandan elections and lack of internet service almost cost him his dream move to Tynecastle

ROGERS MATO already feels like he has a connection to Hearts after only arriving just days ago.

But the winger admits being without the internet for four days in Uganda was part of the reason behind his transfer saga.

The 22-year-old’s switch from North Macedonian side Vardar on an initial loan deal has been anything but straightforward.

After the Jambos announced they had secured his signature on a pre-contract earlier this month, Vardar then claimed they had agreed a deal with MLS side Sporting Kansas City for the highly-rated forward.

And in another twist Vardar then claimed he went AWOL after playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.

But part of that confusion was down to the fact that comms were down during the general election in Uganda.
