Nothing elitist about beating Nazi tyranny

A PROPOSED military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day has been rejected because it is "elitist". What utter nonsense. The councillor who made this bizarre decision should take a look in the mirror.

It's hard to know whether to be angry or amused by the claim. On the one hand, it makes a laughing stock of Dacorum Borough Council and the party that leads it, the Liberal Democrats.

On the other, it robs local residents of an opportunity to show their gratitude to those who liberated Europe from tyranny.
