Newborn was discovered to be a doll after woman faked pregnancy

A WOMAN has been accused of duping a Scots community by pretending to be pregnant and passing off a doll as her newborn baby.

Kira Cousins, 22, has shared baby scan photos and even had a gender-reveal bash in the lead up to her "giving birth".

It is alleged she wore a prosthetic bump to dupe friends and family, and announced the "birth" of a baby girl called Bonnie-Leigh Joyce on October 10.

But she was seemingly rumbled when her mother found the reborn doll in her bedroom.

Ms Cousins, from Airdrie in Lanarkshire, received lavish gifts from loved ones, posting photos on social media of newborn clothes and a £1,000 pram and car seat set.

She listed hospital appointments and told pals there had been complications and the baby had a hole in its heart. When she claimed to give birth, she said Bonnie-Leigh weighed 5lb 4oz.
