Mother hacked to death by boyfriend

A MAN arrested for murdering his girlfriend told a nurse he hacked her to death, a court has heard.

Corey Dryden made the admission during a mental health assessment after the death of his partner, Megan Hughes, who was stabbed 27 times.

The mum-of-two was found dead at their Berwickshire home in February.

Yesterday, the High Court in Edinburgh heard that police arrested the 31-year-old soon after the fatal attack at the property in Chirnside.

Prosecutor Tracey Brown told Judge Lord Harrower that Dryden claimed he could not recall what he did.

Guilty

During a police interview, he began crying and told detectives: "I did really love her, you know."
