DEREK McINNES has waited more than 50 days to take charge of a Hearts match - but he's been dreaming about walking out at Tynecastle for years.

- By Ross Pilcher

The former Aberdeen and Kilmarnock boss has long eyed the Gorgie hotseat, often waxing lyrical about the fans and the stadium during visits in the away dugout.

Now it's finally his - and he kicks off his reign today in the Premier Sports Cup against Dunfermline.

McInness said: "I'm looking forward to it. It's something I've pictured and thought about a lot.

"Saturday's about the game and the players winning but I am looking forward to it.

"It's a bit unusual, waiting this long to actually take charge of your first game proper but none the less I think it's been worth the wait.

"Hopefully we can have a winning performance and remember it all for the right reasons."
