Uphill task facing Gers after horror first half at Ibrox

RANGERS reached a new low under Russell Martin as their Champions League aspirations sank almost without trace last night.

Martin hoped a packed Ibrox would roar his side on to a vital victory after a slew of unconvincing performances to begin his Rangers reign.

But it was Club Brugge who brought the noise as they raced into a 3-0 lead within 20 minutes.

The nightmare began less than three minutes in when Nasser Djiga inexplicably left the ball for a distant Jack Butland, and Romeo Vermant gleefully nipped in to loft the ball into an inviting Ibrox net.
