London closes in on NY as world's top financial centre
Scottish Daily Express
|March 21, 2025
LONDON has edged closer to becoming the world’s top financial centre — but concerns have been raised over its future competitiveness.
The 37th edition of the Z/Yen Group’s Global Financial Centres Index showed the capital maintained its second-place ranking among the world’s top financial centres — and climbed 12 points from the last rating in September.
New York topped the table again but its lead over London has narrowed. Our capital dominates European rankings, with a 19-point lead over Frankfurt, which came in at 11.
Our city was in the top three for all eight major industries and scored first for banking.
