Kettlewell says Miller talent is self-made

STUART KETTLEWELL says Lennon Miller's rise towards a Scotland debut is all down to the 18-year-old midfielder's class and character.

The Motherwell teenager, above, is expected to feature in the upcoming friendly double-header against Iceland on Friday and Liechtenstein on Monday, having kept his place in Steve Clarke's squad.

Miller was previously selected for the Nations League play-off against Greece in March but didn't get off the bench in either leg.

It was Steven Hammell who gave Miller his first-team debut at Well just six days after his 16th birthday and he progressed so much he was handed the captain's armband in the latter stages of Kettewell's reign.

Modest Kettlewell, now boss of Kilmarnock, refuses to take credit for Miller's ascent, though, and insists the youngster's qualities on and off the park have made it happen.
