Kemi's ‘golden rule’ can fix our broken finances

Kemi Badenoch today positions the Conservatives as the only party that can be trusted to get the public finances under control.

Earlier this week, the Tory conference heard about plans to deliver savings of £47billion. They include ending benefit payments for foreigners, helping people with minor health conditions into work and reducing the foreign aid budget.

The Conservative leader will today explain how those savings will be used. Instead of announcing a spending splurge, she will pledge to use at least half the cash to cut Britain’s deficit.
