KILMARNOCK captain Brad Lyons admitted feeling "guilty" after Rugby Park boss Stuart Kettlewell was sacked.
He was shown the door after the 2-1 weekend defeat by Aberdeen left Killie 10 games without a win and second bottom of the Premiership.
Ahead of today's home game against Falkirk, where interim boss Kris Doolan will be in charge, Northern Ireland midfielder Lyons, 28, (above) said: "I had a phone call with him on Monday night and just wanted to say sorry.
