Housing sector homes in on Reeves' affordable ambitions

HOUSEBUILDERS went from strength to strength after the boost for social housing was confirmed by Rachel Reeves.

Particular winners were those firms who have shifted their focus to constructing affordable homes.

These include Vistry which yesterday was up 6.9% at 699.2p and its rival Crest, which was 4.7% ahead at 189.6p.

It comes as brick maker Ibstock said it will boost capacity to "benefit from the recovery as it gathers pace".

Prior to the Chancellor's heavily trailed announcement Vistry had been up 20% since June 6, while Crest had risen 11.3%. Barratt, Persimmon and Bellway grew in the five days by just under 10%, while Taylor Wimpey and Berkeley rose by about 5%.
