Everyday costs 'pushing families to brink'

Household debt triples in decade

COST-of-living pressures forcing families into arrears have more than tripled the nation's household energy debt, research revealed.

Electricity customers behind on bills without a repayment plan soared from 300,000 in 2012 to more than one million by the end of last year, The Resolution Foundation's Money On My Mind report said.

Gas arrears also tripled, increasing from 300,000 to 900,000.
