Horner quits Red Bull team with £80m settlement

THE husband of Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has scooped an £80million settlement by Formula 1 side Red Bull after controversially being relieved of his duties in July.

Christian Horner, 51, was left stunned when put on gardening leave as Team Principle by Red Bull GmbH, the Austria-based energy drinks’ parent company.

Horner was given no explanation for his firing but those in the sport claim he fell victim to an internal team power struggle.

Now his payoff from his contract, which ran until 2030, allows him to return to Formula 1 next year.

His role was threatened last year following claims he acted coercively towards a female employee but was twice cleared by independent King's Counsels (KCs) in internal hearings and strenuously denied wrongdoing.
