THE ORIGINAL Harry Potter film director says JK Rowling's new HBO franchise looks just like the movies — so "what's the point".

Chris Columbus, 66, also lashed out at JK's views on trans people.

The US filmmaker, inset, who directed the first two Potter movies and produced the third, told TV host and novelist Richard Osman: "I'm really proud of those films and I'm moving on.

"So it's interesting, yesterday I looked online and there were photographs of Nick Frost as Hagrid [in the HBO series] along with the new Harry Potter [Dominic McLaughlin, 11].
