Greer: Party spats put me in hospital

ROSS Greer revealed he has been hospitalised twice amid a brutal civil war engulfing the Scottish Greens.

The MSP is hoping to bag one of two co-leader spots when the party meets later this year.

But he almost quit due to the impact on his health. It is another damaging revelation for the Greens, who have been riven by behind-the-scenes splits.

Patrick Harvie is stepping down as co-leader and while Lorna Slater wants to continue, she is facing a challenge from Gillian Mackay.

Under Green rules, the positions must be filled by a male and female, meaning Mr Greer will go up against activist Dominic Ashmole.

The party has been riddled with leaks, with members briefing against one another.
