Gers hunt goes on as ex-boss exits race
STEVEN GERRARD has pulled out of the running to become the next Rangers manager.
Gerrard’s decision came just 24 hours after Dave King personally endorsed him for the hotseat.
Express Sport revealed last week that — despite bookies suspending betting on a return to his old Ibrox post — Gerrard was facing a major hurdle to convince wife Alex to swap the Middle East for Glasgow.
On Wednesday ex-chairman King urged the incoming American regime to make their move for the Scouser ahead of both Davide Ancelotti and Russell Martin.
According to sources, Ancelotti is being eyed by Spaniards Deportivo La Coruna and newly-promoted Serie A side Pisa.
Despite King’s late push, Gerrard has decided to stay in Bahrain for at least another year and withdraw from the running to become Philippe Clement's successor.
