Seattle defensive coordinator Durde creates history as pioneering Brit coach helps Seahawks win Super Bowl

- KEITH WEBSTER

FIRST ADE

AFTER he became the first British coach to win the Super Bowl, Aden Durde revealed he knew the day before the game something special was on the cards.

Durde, whose football life started as an amateur player at Finsbury Park in London, was hired last year by Seattle head coach, Mike Macdonald, to be the Seahawks' defensive coordinator.

Macdonald was renowned as a defensive genius before becoming head coach two years ago and, along with Durde, has turned Seattle's defence into a ferocious unit that hounded Patriots quarterback, Drake Maye, in a nightmare evening he will want to forget in a hurry.

Maye was pressured all night, sacked six times and intercepted twice, one of those being run back for the clinching touchdown as Seattle won their second Vince Lombardi trophy and first in a dozen years.
