Watt is convinced history can repeat itself when Scotland face West Indies in World Cup curtain-raiser

MARK WATT hopes lightning strikes twice for Scotland when they get their T20 World Cup campaign under way against the West Indies in Kolkata today.

Having failed to qualify for the tournament, the Saltires had an unexpected invite two weeks ago to replace Bangladesh, who were booted out following their refusal to play their group-stage matches in India.

Scotland have had a couple of warm-ups and lost both but while the truncated nature of their buildup leaves them vulnerable, Watt has fresh memories of their famous victory over the Windies in 2022.

It was their only previous T20 meeting, the Scots winning by 42 runs thanks in no small part to slow left-armer Watt, who claimed three for 12 from four overs and is undaunted by their Group C curtain-raiser this weekend.
