LEWIS FERGUSON has told the Tartan Army not to panic — insisting Scotland will get back on track before the World Cup qualifiers kick off in September.

- By Scott McDermott

The Bologna skipper was part of Steve Clarke’s team that was embarrassed by Iceland — ranked 85th in the world - in a friendly at Hampden Park on Friday night.

The 3-1 defeat maintained the Scots’ woeful form ahead of this evening’s clash with Liechtenstein in Vaduz.

Clarke is under pressure just three months before our first qualifier away to Denmark.

Defeat in Copenhagen on September 5 would give Scotland a mountain to climb in their bid to get to the finals being held in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.

Ferguson admits they’ve let standards slip recently — after losing six goals in two games ~ but is confident the squad will get it right.

The 25-year-old said: “There shouldn’t be any panic.

“We have a strong squad with plenty of quality and experience.

“But we do recognise we have to get back to winning ways — and performing at the levels we know we're capable of.
