Cops called for iPad MSP's missing mug
Scottish Daily Express
|January 14, 2026
POLICE were called to Holyrood to investigate after a coffee cup went missing from the office of disgraced Michael Matheson.
Staff for the former health secretary, who stood down from the post in 2024, are alleged to have called the police after a mug seemingly vanished from his parliamentary office.
Critics accused the Falkirk West MSP, one of dozens of Nats stepping down in May, of having a “brass neck” for involving the law. Mr Matheson quit government after lying about an £11,000 iPad bill that was racked up on a family holiday to Morocco.
