Calls to sack NHS chief after trans row tribunal

During an urgent question debate at Holyrood yesterday, Tory MSPs said health board bosses had been involved in “traducing” Ms Peggie’s character.

Former Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said: “Shamefully, during the tribunal the Cabinet Secretary expressed confidence in the senior leadership of NHS Fife.

“Now, he must have come to the conclusion that most of us reached months ago that they do not deserve that confidence. So can I ask him, if the Chief Executive does not do the right thing and resign immediately, will he do the right thing and sack her?”

Ms Potter, who is due to take early retirement next year, signed off a controversial press statement criticising the nurse and her supporters.

Health Secretary Neil Gray refused to be drawn on the matter, claiming the tribunal “still has a course to run” while pointing out that only “four of 47 claims” made by Ms Peggie were upheld.
