BATTLING Hibs reached the end of the road in Warsaw in the most gut-wrenching of fashions.

After fighting back from two goals down on aggregate to lead — only to be taken to extra time by a 93rd minute equaliser — they were eventually beaten by Mileta Rajovic’s 98th minute winner as Legia edged a nine-goal thriller over the two legs.

It was absolutely soul destroying for David Gray’s heroes who stood on the brink of making history as the first Hibs side to reach a Euro group phase.

Legia — who finished with 10 men after Jan Ziolkowski was sent off on 115 minutes — looked to have the job done when they fired ahead after 13 minutes, Bartosz Kapustka brilliantly set up Vahan Bichakhchyan to slam home from 20 yards.

Hibs needed hope.
