Beetle mania for bangers

PROGRAMMES where blokes fix old cars? I could watch those all day. Or certainly for a sizeable chunk of it, as long as I stayed tuned to U& Yesterday (Freeview 27), which seems a tiny bit obsessed with them.

Its lineup today, which is by no means exceptional, includes a remarkable eight hours of this stuff, between 8am and midnight.

That's six different episodes of Bangers & Cash, one episode of its spin-off, Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics, and one episode of CLASSIC CAR KINGS (8pm). Actually, I say it’s not an exceptional lineup, but in one sense it is, because the last of those shows is brand new.

Classic Car Kings takes us to Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, to a place called Irv's Resto Shop, where owner Paul "Irv" Irving and his team perform minor miracles (although sadly not a Morris Minor miracle, at least not in this series) on cars that look way beyond repair. And by "way", I mean way, way, way.
