Alcaraz ends Norrie hopes

THE British dream ended at Wimbledon last night, as Cameron Norrie's defiance was extinguished by a brutal Carlos Alcaraz masterclass on Centre Court.

The Scots hopeful, 29, could not compete with the Spaniard, 22, who was on scintillating form.

As the sun beat down, Norrie cheered on by girlfriend Louise was beaten in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in just over an hour and a half.

The British number three was the last home nation competitor in the singles, following the exits of Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu last week and Sonay Kartal on Sunday.
