Like most of you in roughly the same time zone, I am struck with a genuine sense of disbelief. How did this happen? How did I get well into my pensionable years (though still a working OAP!) without really noticing? Surely there must be a way of somehow winding the clock back to the age that I actually FEEL (which is about 35)? Obviously not. The late Alan Clark MP called it the two-second rule: “You can’t ever turn the clock back —not even by two seconds.”

I'm the only “working OAP” at Good Morning Britain. In fact I think I’m probably the only person there who’s in their 60s. Some of the younger researchers and programme runners were born comfortably this side of the millenium, well into the so-called noughties, when I was already well into my 50s.
