10 years for monster who threw his victim round like 'a rag doll'

A BRUTAL intruder who subjected a 61-yearold woman to a harrowing rape ordeal after kicking his way into her home through a French door was jailed for 10 years yesterday.
Bradley Shand threw the victim around like a “rag doll” during the attack that left the woman asking: “What did I do? Why did this happen to me?”
A judge told Shand, 23, at the High Court in Edinburgh: “You subjected her to a violent rape and caused her injury. Your conduct was absolutely disgraceful.”
Lord Summers said it was “a particularly egregious offence” and added: “It is difficult to imagine what she must have gone through.”
Devastating
He also said he had read a victim impact statement and it was clear that Shand’s crime has had a “devastating effect” on the woman.
He pointed out that after breaking into the house in Edinburgh where the woman was alone and subjecting her to the sex attack, Shand went on to perpetrate a further offence where he carried out a robbery bid.
