Councilmember Quetcy Lozada (7th District) hosted the first annual "Thriving Together Expo” at Roberto Clemente Middle School in the heart of the 7th Council District.
-
The three-hour event brought out hundreds of people from the surrounding communities of Juniata, Kensington, Hunting Park, and Feltonville.
Representatives from local, state, and federal government, as well as nonprofit organizations, public health organizations, and utility companies, provided residents information and services.
“Each organization that was here exists to serve the residents of this community. I hope that this event is the beginning of a new relationship between each attendee and the organizations that they connect with. For our community to truly thrive together, we need to continue to stay connected and talk to our neighbors about services that are here for them,” said Councilmember Lozada.
A central fixture of the resource fair was a mobile clinic from Penn Medicine, which offered take-home colon cancer testing kits and services for detecting and preventing this disease that is a leading cause of death in people under 50.
