South Korea’s former president indicted for alleged bribery

South Korean prosecutors indicted former liberal President Moon Jae-in on bribery charges on Thursday, saying that a budget airline gave his son-in-law a lucrative job during Moon’s term in office.

Moon, who served as President from 2017-2022, received bribes totalling 217 million Won (USD 151,705) from Lee Sang¥ik, founder of the budget carrier Thai Eastar Jet, in the form of wages, hous-ing expenses and other finan-cial assistance provided to his then -son-in-law.
Moon’s daughter and her husband were reportedly divorced in 2021.
