Recruitment drive sees duo in at Dale
Rochdale Observer
|July 16, 2025
EXPERIENCED versatility player Joe Pritchard and young goalkeeper Oliver Whatmough are the latest new recruits at National League Rochdale.
-
Former Accrington and Oldham man Pritchard, 28, has joined on an initial one-year deal.
Pritchard, who can operate in midfield or as wing-back, made over 100 appearances for Stanley earlier in his career, earning a move to MK Dons before his switch to Boundary Park.
“I'm delighted to get the deal done and be back into preseason training,” he said.
“The big thing to me was staying around the Manchester area, and Rochdale showed interest. It was a really easy decision and I feel like it’s a great fit.
“The staff bring so much energy, and on the training pitch it’s been electric. When you get that intensity from everyone, it’s a recipe to kick on.”
Born in Watford, Joe’s youth career began at Tottenham Hotspur where he spent five years and made two appearances in the EFL Trophy before his departure in 2018.
He then moved north with Bolton Wanderers securing his services for the 2018/19 season. Joe made his debut in the Championship in early 2019 against West Bromwich Albion, making four further appearances for the Trotters.
