Just the ticket for five-try Nixon

DAN Nixon admitted Hornets needed a performance on Sunday following some under-par displays. And ahead of tomorrow’s trip to North Wales Crusaders, he believes the 70-6 rout of struggling Newcastle Thunder can prove a springboard to consistency.

“Over the past couple of weeks we've been a bit off the mark and we felt like we needed a good performance, needed to push on. We'd spoken about all week about coming out, having a professional performance and looking into next week as well, pushing on to that.

“So I feel like we needed that as a team and it’s obviously nice to help myself to five tries as well. I think the most I'd scored previously was three, so I'm happy with five. I wasn’t expecting it — the first half we started a bit slow but then obviously got into the game, had a talk at half time and pushed on.
