The Viksit Bharat vision rightly highlights a impressive economic progress as India becomes the fourth-largest economy in the world. However, this economic growth has not improved living standards, since severe air pollution and smog persist, making daily life a struggle for health and survival. We, citizens, witness the same yearly blame game played by Political Parties. As a capital and adjoining area becomes a gas chamber, Responsibility is often shifted to the previous regime. Infants, the elderly, and children face heightened risks in this degrading environment. This situation revives the ongoing debate about balancing development with environmental conservation, reflecting an urgent need to support biodiversity preservation. The Indian Constitution, under Article 21 (Protection of life and personal liberty) profoundly incorporates a green, healthy, and livable environment as a fundamental right. But the toxic air, irritation of the eyes, and the descent of ashes from burned stubble collectively raise concerns regarding the current status of the right to a healthy environment. Delhi's post-Deepavali smog has led to a 60% rise in eye-related problems, where stubble burning makes it further worse by uplifting the AQI between the "very poor" to " Severe" category across north Indian States.
