A warm breakfast of idli, vade, sambhar and chutney with Sivachidambaram

I WAS recently invited to a breakfast meet with Sivachidambaram and his family at his Chennai residence, Isai Illam (House of Music).

Sivachidambaram

Sivachidambaram is the son of legendry Carnatic singer Padmashri Seerkazhi Govindarajan. Many will remember the song Devan Kovil Mani Osai by Govindarajan as well as his appearances in several Tamil movies.

Sivachidambaram and I spoke on several topics ranging from movies and culture to music and politics. We also spoke about the huge fan base that his late father had in South Africa.

The older generation loved his playback singing and the few roles he played in movies.

Sivachidambaram is a trained Carnatic music vocalist and cinema playback singer, and he acted in a few movies. His most noted role was in Meenatchi Thiruvilaiyadil as Sage Agathiyar, and in Mruthangam Chakravathy he sang the song Abhinaya Sundari picturised on Prabhu Ganesan.
