Leaf colour change in the garden does a great job in drawing our attention to other forms of autumn attraction that have been in the background over summer, giving way to flowering border perennials.

Once the ornamental tree and in shrub leaves have gone, silver and golden subjects are suddenly the point of focus. Golden slow growing conifers spring to mind.
A Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Filifera Aurea' in this garden is beaming at the attention received now that some surrounding plants have entered dormancy.
