LFA fencers start season with passion, purpose
Polokwane Observer
|October 09, 2025
The new fencing season kicked off with the familiar clash of épées as fencers from seven clubs took to the piste at the fencing training hall in Polokwane on Saturday, fighting hard for top positions.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and emotion as competitors advanced through rounds, while others gracefully accepted defeat to stronger opponents.
Family and friends gathered to cheer on the fencers, adding to the lively energy in the hall. The highlight of the day came during the senior men's épée final, which kept spectators on edge as Frans Ramodike from the Ditlalemeso Fencing Club faced off against Katlego Matladi. With the score tied at 14-14, Ramodike claimed victory with a stunning counter attack as Matladi lunged for the winning point.
