School meals are vital for future of country's kids

Schools should be a place where pupils go to thrive, regardless of where they come from.

We are all perform best and reach our potential when our basic needs are met, and this is especially true for young people who are developing and in education.

This is why the Scottish Greens have been pushing for increased provision of free school meals.

This week, we reached a new milestone on that journey when we were able to secure the expansion of free school meals to more S1-3 pupils across Aberdeen, Glasgow, Fife, Moray, North Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, Shetland and the Western Isles-these 8 areas being part of a pilot.
