Perth runners brave the elements for annual event

Perth Road Runners' Brig Bash road race returned to the streets of Bridge of Earn and Kintillo recently.

This annual contest has become Scotland's leading five-mile race and again attracted a clutch of Scotland's leading runners.

The start this year will be long remembered for the sudden storm and deluge that visited itself on runners, organisers and helpers alike.

In almost-aquatic conditions, 260 runners went on their way, with sunshine emerging to greet the first finishers on Chaise Road.

The men's race has been won by a Central AC (Stirling) athlete since 2019, with Hamish Hickey adding his name to the trophy this year.
