Former pupils travelled from all over the world for the reunion

- STAFF REPORTER

Perth Academy former pupils took a nostalgic trip down memory lane last week as they met to celebrate 60 years since leaving secondary school.

The reunion for the Class of '65, held on a regular basis over the past 20 years or so, took place at the Huntingtower Hotel, near Perth, on Wednesday evening.

Thirty former FPs of Perth Junior Academy and Perth Senior Academy, plus three non-school spouses, gathered to mark six decades since walking out of the gates at Viewlands for the last time.

As an indication of the ever-rolling passage of time, a previous get-together in 2015 - at McDiarmid Park - was attended by 64 pupils.

"We had agreed to hold reunions every five years but the planned event in 2020 was delayed by covid until 2023," organiser John McGhie explained.

"We enjoyed previous events at the football stadium but Huntingtower was chosen this time round to allow some of us, who do not live locally, to stay over."
