Calls for another go at National Park bid

A call has been made to reconsider the unsuccessful Tay Forest National Park bid after the winning scheme in the contest was scrapped.

The Tay Forest National Park bid lost out to preferred location Galloway last summer. However, divisions within Galloway emerged over the project and the Scottish Government dropped it last week.

Perthshire Green MSP Mark Ruskell has now asked the Scottish Government to reconsider the bid for Tay Forest National Park.

He said: “Communities in Perthshire showed majority public support for a new Tay Forest National Park with 56.8 per cent of respondents to Perth and Kinross Council’s eight-week consultation agreeing or strongly agreeing with the proposal.
