Westminster has let us all down

Paisley Daily Express

Over 10 years ago, in the thick of the Independence Referendum 2014, the UK Government promised and 'guaranteed' a lot of things.

- BY PAISLEY MSP GEORGE ADAM

Westminster has let us all down

One of these things was, of course, that the only way to secure our continued membership of the European Union was to vote to remain.

We all know what a lie that turned out to be only a few years later and we are still colossally paying for the disaster that is Brexit today.

Another thing that Westminster promised, if Scotland voted to remain a part of the United Kingdom, was that we would all be £1,400 better off every year.

I don't know about you but I think I can safely say I know no one who has been £1,400 better off every year since 2014.

In fact, I'm sure most people in our town would easily attest to the fact that the opposite has been true after over a decade of continued Westminster mismanagement and austerity, a revolving door of incompetent prime ministers, and a complete disregard of Scotland's unique wants and needs.
