Time set for revamp work on iconic clock

Upgrade works for the “iconic” Charleston Clock Tower in Paisley have been rescheduled to take place next month, it has been confirmed.

Renfrewshire Council had provisionally planned for some minor improvements - such as painting - at the landmark, which sits at the corner of Neilston Road and Stock Street, to take place in August.

However, it is understood the local authority has encountered a “number of issues” and had no choice but to adjust the timeline for the job.

Councillor Eddie Devine, who represents Paisley Southeast, said he was looking forward to the works being carried out at the structure.
