Ibrox side winless against brilliant Buddies in four matches as Curtis comes to rescue

- Taylor Murray

St Mirren stretched their unbeaten run against Rangers to four games yesterday after another spirited performance.

Jonah Ayunga's first-half opener set the Buddies on their way to a third win in four games over the Light Blues.

However, young supersub Findlay Curtis rescued a point for the visitors who grew increasingly desperate as time marched on.

Both Saints and Gers are still looking for their first Premiership victories of the season but this was certainly a point for Stephen Robinson's men to be immensely proud of.

Saints stuck with the same side which started the penalty shootout win over Hearts which sealed a place in the quarterfinals of the Premier Sports Cup.

Gers boss Russell Martin opted for three changes to the team which lost 3-1 to Club Brugge in the first leg of their shambolic Champions League playoff on Tuesday.

One switch was enforced – suspension ruled out Nasser Djiga—so Emmanuel Fernandez was brought into the heart of the defence.
