Robbo shock as players overlooked for internationals

- TAYLOR MURRAY

Stephen Robinson admits he was stunned when he learned some of his St Mirren players were snubbed for international duty.

Only Richard King has been called up, with the defender joining up with his Jamaican teammates for a crucial doubleheader.

The Reggae Boyz, who sit top of their World Cup qualification group on nine points, play Trinidad and Tobago (third on five points) and Curacao (second on eight points) in their quest to reach next summer's jamboree in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

However, Killian Phillips, Alex Gogic and Keanu Baccus - who have all been on national service while at Saints - missed out for the Republic of Ireland, Cyprus and Australia, respectively.

“Ireland must have some squad if Killian Phillips isn’t getting into the squad,” Buddies gaffer Robinson said.
