Safety fears as speed camera deactivated

A speed camera on a busy Paisley road has been deactivated and bagged in a move that has been branded "disappointing" by an elected member.
The enforcement equipment on Gleniffer Road has been covered up and labelled “not in use” after a decision to axe it early last year.
It comes after Safety Cameras Scotland confirmed the camera would be made “dormant”, having examined collisions at the site and finding they were not linked to the speed of vehicles.
The unit, which operates within Police Scotland, said the “primary factor” in incidents was the “topography” of the road and visibility at prominent junctions.
But Councillor Stephen Burns, an SNP representative for Paisley Southwest, has been left frustrated the call wasn't reconsidered after expressing concerns.
