A Renfrew roofer told his partner she should kill herself after they had a drunken argument.

Mark McAdam admitted he caused the woman “fear or alarm” in November last year at a flat in Paisley.

The 46-year-old acted in an aggressive manner, repeatedly shouted at her and directed abusive remarks towards her.

The procurator fiscal depute told Paisley Sheriff Court McAdam and the woman have been in an on/off relationship since 2010.

She explained: “On Friday, November 15, last year, the accused and the woman were together in the woman's flat.

“They both had been drinking throughout the evening.

“Around 11.20pm the accused became angry towards her and started an argument.

“The accused then shouted at her, ‘why don’t you commit suicide’.
