Paisley groups march against poverty threat

United Buddies joined thousands on the march in Edinburgh Community People from all walks of life took part

Paisley demanded better this week as dozens of Buddies marched on the capital in pursuit of a better standard of living.

People from Ferguslie and members of The Star Project were among the thousands who took part in the Scotland Demands Better antipoverty demonstration in Edinburgh.

Participants from The Tannahill Centre, including Ferguslie Seniors, Darkwood Crew, Community Together and Pachedu travelled together to add their voices to the call for action on poverty, fair work, investment in essentials and a stronger social security system.

Organisers estimate around 5,000 people and 230 organisations, trade unions and faith groups joined the demonstration making it Scotland's largest antipoverty mobilisation in years.
