New funding to tacke housing shortage

More work will be done to address the housing shortage in Renfrewshire as more money is pledged to bring empty homes back into use.

The Scottish Government has this week confirmed local authorities across Scotland will receive a share of £2million to help fund additional empty homes officers. They will be tasked with taking a more proactive and targeted approach to tackling local housing issues in their communities as part of the Scottish Empty Homes Partnership.

Funding will also help to train and induct new staff, grow services and ensure empty homes are utilised, including by increasing support for local authorities to make compulsory purchase orders.
