Rosslyn Chapel has its Green Men, York Minster has its Dungeon Dog, Lincoln Cathedral has its Imp - but Paisley’s Oakshaw Trinity Church has Wee Leitchie.

These ghostly creatures and others which haunt older churches across Britain originate in tragic historical events - and Wee Leitchie is no exception.

Oakshaw Trinity - founded in 1754 as Paisley High Church - was nearly 100 years old when strange stories swept the town.

It was reported that a phantom steeplejack could be seen perched on the pinnacle of the spire smoking his pipe on moonlit nights.
