I remain opposed to proposed Bill

As regular readers of my column will know, I have opposed the Assisted Dying Bill since it was brought before parliament last year.

I strongly believe that what is required to ease the suffering of the terminally ill is improved standards of palliative and end of life care.

Last Friday, I attended the Third Reading of the Private Members Bill brought by my Labour colleague Kim Leadbeater.

Like the previous readings, there was a lot of emotion inside the chamber on both sides of the debate.

This was matched outside parliament where a great many people came to make their voices heard on this subject.
